Last.fm Festival
For Last.fm, London
Using the Last.fm API, rehabstudio generated live in-venue infographic projections which heroed the crowd, the bands and the Last.fm service on the night of the festival. These visuals were directly based on the crowd’s user profiles - a blend of tech, motion graphics, social data and live feeds.
The bespoke VJ sets highlighted the unique nature of a music festival curated by the fans themselves, all powered by Last.fm’s scrobbling technology. Visuals featured live Last.fm stats about both users and artists, celebrating the users in the venue who scrobbled headline artists first and most often. Live data from the Last.fm service such as number of tracks scrobbled per second and the display tag clouds taken from the user profiles for all the users in the room were animated for the projections.
The visuals also pitted New York against London, showcasing the two cities’ tribal music tastes, top tracks and listening habits. The event animations also featured the Last.fm characters, tying the live events into the recent global brand campaign designed and produced by rehabstudio.
The events were recorded and streamed on Last.fm and the live data visualisations were re-broadcast to the rest of the Last.fm community through Last.fm playground. The sophisticated Last.fm API made it all possible and the live infographic element illustrated exactly how good the world’s best music recommendation service really is.
