A global initiative to protect young people from radicalisation
In June 2011 the Summit Against Violent Extremism (SAVE) brought former right-wing extremists, jihadists and militants, together with survivors of violent extremism. The aim was to start a global conversation on how to prevent young people from radicalisation and how to de-radicalise others. We were invited to design and host the platform on which this group could continue this work.
In partnership with Google Ideas, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) and Gen Next Foundation, we launched a platform where former extremists and survivors can use technology to connect, collaborate, share experiences and project their message to a wider audience.
The platform now counts over 300 former extremists and over 160 survivors, with over 2000 connections and 69 ongoing projects, all aimed at helping others to leave, or prevent them from joining extremist groups.
